If you have attended the Modern Woman Show in previous years, chances are you snagged a great piece or two ( or five!) from Bella Chic. Quality, on trend and affordable fashion is their specialty, and owner Michelle Strawford knows how to choose the pieces you want for your wardrobe each season. While you'll find some of your favorite bigger brands, local makers and even an in house partnership - you'll also find top notch customer service and a company that continuously gives back to the community and supports fellow entrepreneurs. I chatted with Michelle to find out a little more about all that is Bella Chic!
What was the drive behind starting Bella Chic?
An absolute passion for fashion and helping women feel great about themselves. There is nothing better than the look on a woman's face when they find that perfect outfit!
Who is the Bella Chic woman?
Great question! The Bella Chic woman is full of life... she's a very busy woman with family, friends and work but she loves to celebrate life! She gives back to her community and loves to Pay It Forward! She loves to look great in leading edge fashion but doesn't want to spend the family fortune doing it! Shopping highs never get old and they are always way better with friends!
Easy! We LOVE supporting local... from our Bella Private Label created inhouse to local jewlers (Elizabeth.lyn, Jojo Beads, XO Bracelets and Bellezza Moda to name a few)! We are also all about designs with a cause that make a difference. Bella Chic's partnership with The Roster (a Vancouver based design company) has enabled us to create a collection featuring statement tees including such quotes as #bethechange, #bekind and "The best view comes after the hardest climb". 10% of sales of these pieces are donated to the BeaYOUtiful Organization. BeaYOUtiful is a non- profit program that reaches out to young girls between the ages of 8-14 and provides mentorship programs for those struggling with confidence, lacking self-esteem or simply looking to build a more positive outlook.
Bella Chic is not your sole venture, you also spearheaded Regina's What Women Want event! Tell us more about what inspired you to create this event and why!?
I am extremely passionate about entrepreneurism and giving back to my community. The What Women Want event was created to build and support local businesses all while creating an event like no other in our community. To date What Women Want and Bella Chic we have donated over $95,000 to local women's charities. I believe it is our responsibility to help others in our world. And honestly.... nothing feels better.
What Women Want is celebrating it's 10 Anniversary this year. Wow time flies! It has grown from a 60 booth event to over 240 booths now located in Regina's International Trade Centre with it's expansion into Moose Jaw. It feels great to have grown together with may local businesses.
